I Love My Hair

I absolutely love, love, love this Sesame Street video.  I love it so much, I lurve it. (Annie Hall reference for those who don't know and if you don't please fix that immediately and thank me later.) It's just so freaking cute. I first caught it while watching with my kids (kinda obvs) and I get so excited when it is on again (way more than is probably normal and way more than my kids even).  I sing it all the time.  Weird?

It's October.  Halloween decorations are going up today.  Pumpkin soup is on the menu for dinner.  It may still feel like summer here in Southern California but Halloween, here we come!

Volcom Ride Easy Beach Short.  I just bought these and want to wear them everyday of my life.  So comfy.  I wish they had my size in the pink.

JCrew Striped zip pouch.  I have a thing for pouches and a thing for stripes.  So, no brainer here folks.

JCrew short sleeve popover.  I just bought this in stripe but I like it in the polka dot equally as much.

Our Summer Adventures

I thought I'd share the list our family made of the summer adventures we wanted to make happen this year.  You know how fast summer flies by and we want to make sure and fit in as much fun as we can.  Can you believe how fast July is going?  So far, we are doing pretty decent on our list but we might need to kick it up a notch.  School will be back in session before we know it.  Sigh and sniffle.

Friday Family Beach Nights  (best ever!)
Santa Cruz Road Trip
Make Soap
Make Popsicles
Visit Seattle and Vancouver
Go to the OC Fair (see farm animals, eat cotton candy)
Visit Balboa Island (and eat a frozen banana)

Have a Ramos House date with Anita (her first)

Have a slumber party
Visit Crystal Cove
Ride the Laguna Beach Trolley
Visit San Onofre

So we've embarked on 5 out of 17 of these adventures so far.  But plans are already in place to make the rest of the list a reality very soon.  We leave for Seattle/Vancouver in 2 weeks.  We are visiting Crystal Cove this weekend and heading to Ramos House next week. Lucky days...

Oh, hello there!  Sorry it's been awhile.

I could give you a bunch of reasons why it's been awhile but let's be real.  I've been lazy.  And kinda loving it.  It's summer time and I am (mostly) embracing the laziness.  But I've missed you terribly.  Really I have.  So I am back.  I think.  Let's move on.

So what have I been up to while gone?  Well, we went on a little family road trip and it was perfection. Really, it was one for the books people.  California, I love you.  And my family too.  I mean, hot damn, I am lucky.

Also, I had a birthday.  Holla!  Officially, a 35 year old grown ass woman.  For reals!  I had a pretty low key birthday which is exactly the way I wanted it.  I got to stretch it out over a whole week of goodness and I just felt really lucky for all these 35 years.

And then there was the 4th of July which was another nice little day of California fun in the sun with some lovely friends and family.  Oh, and some In-n-Out to boot.  I mean, come on, what's better than that?

So, yeah, I'm kinda just blissed out on all this lazy California summer time goodness.  How bout you?  Are you enjoying yourselves?

So here's a little update on what's going on our DVR...

Homeland Season 2

Hell, yes.  We have watched both seasons of Homeland after they actually aired.  This show definitely has a lot of hype, which for me, kind of hurt it. The first season was good, but it didn't blow me away.  We'd been told the second season was better and I definitely agree.  I had a few moments of audible gasps and I really like how the season ended.  I like it.  I don't want to add to the hype and set the bar too high for those of you who have not seen it yet.  It is a very good, entertaining, smart show.  It's worth watching. I look forward to next season.  Is it on my list of best tv shows? Nope.  Have you seen it?  What do you think?


Every summer Tad and I pick a show or two to watch that we either missed, like Homeland, or that we saw and miss and are ready to re-watch.   The two shows we are readying to watch this summer:

The Sopranos.  We haven't seen any of it since it originally aired and I forget almost everything.  I'm looking forward to watching it all over again.

Arrested Development.  We haven't watched the new season yet.  I've heard mixed reviews but I can't wait for my Bluth Family fix.

And finally, while on the subject of the boob tube, allow me to geek out for a second:
